Speed Grill & Deli Reviews
Great Mexican breakfast!! This is the place to go if you know what GOOD Mexican food is!
Authentic Mexican food prepared and served by Mexicans who really know how to do this right. I go there at least once a week for take out, it always lasts me two meals!! And very reasonable prices too!! Highly recommend!
We loved this place!! We were in town for a baseball tournament with my son and can't wait to play there again! We will be back to eat!!!
Great Small town find. Little place (looks to seat about 40), nothing fancy, booth and table seating available. They have your basic fountain drinks, teas, but they also have Jarritos and other Mexican drinks. Muy Delicioso!!! I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas rojas (which you get a choice, roja or verde). On the side i got 2 loaded chicken tacos. The enchiladas are about 6 (i believe) rolled corn tortillas topped with red sauce, crumbled cheese, shredded lettuce, avocado, and topped with sour cream. I was so hungry when i ordered i wasn't sure how many came with it but, i do remember thinking "but wait......there's more!" Haha. The tacos were fantastic. They don't cheat you here. If you can fold the corn tortilla and somehow not get anything on your face.....somethings wrong. SO good!!! To be accurate, "finger-licking good." I was very happy to find this place, it is real...... not 'Americanized'. Yaaaaaaay!!!! Buen Provecho!!!!
We originally got the tip that they had a bologna burger here so decided to check it out finally. I was happy to see that this was a Mexican place and that it didn't wasn't in the speedy Gonzales and numbered lunch family of establishments. One thing that could be a drawback is sodas are sold by the bottle and only tea or water comes in something you can get refills in as far as I know. But they have Jaritos and horchata, so. I had fried chicken tacos, which are kind of like taquitos at other places, little fried tubes of meat. Very tasty with salad, rice, cheese and beans. And the spicy green sauce on the side was really good. My husband had a Cuban. It looked like it had a hot dog or sausage on it, but I was assured their take was absolutely delicious. They have a lot of breakfast options - not sure if they serve all day, but I want to come back and try some more things. Very tasty.
Very good food, good service and much less greasy than many Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants. Tried the empanadas - very good. Tried a breakfast platter one morning after my procedures at the local hospital - also very good. So far, good for both breakfast and dinner, I have not been disappointed.
We went here for lunch on Easter Sunday passing through Oxford on I-85 after discovering that our other go-to Mexican restaurant was closed for the holiday. I'm from Oxford but don't live there anymore so I did not know about this place until I found it on Yelp. Let me start by saying this, I cannot believe this place exists in Oxford! The food here was amazing! This was something I would expect to see in a place such as Atlanta or a much larger city then Oxford. Real authentic Mexican food with really good, friendly service. Our main waitress must have been new because she wasn't able to answer some of our questions but our cups were never empty and the food came quickly. The "head waiter" was one of the best I have encountered in a long time. The only negative part about this restaurant would be that they use plastic silverware and styrofoam cups and one of our meals came on a styrofoam plate. To me that's a no-go in a restaurant but I cannot say enough about how great the food was!!! Also, the fact that they do not serve beer was almost a showstopper for my dad who joined us. Despite this, I will definitely be going back during my next visit to Oxford. I hope they will have gotten real eating utensils and cups by then. The alcohol situation doesn't bother me do much. Pros: -Outstanding authentic Mexican food -Great service -Really friendly staff -Genuinely asked how they can improve their food/service as we left ("head waiter") -Great price -The food!!! Cons: -Plastic eating utensils -Styrofoam cups -Waitress needed a little familiarization training with the menu
I am so glad we discovered this place! The steak tacos are the best in North Carolina and they are truly authentic. Th sweet tea is great and the customer service and prices are even better. I feel cheated that this place has been around for years in Oxford just not in this location because they would've had my families money years ago!!! The restaurant is clean and welcoming, down to earth and cozy. Truly my favorite spot in town!!!

WOW. Speed and you will miss it! So don't speed like the name of this place. The spot literally is hidden and you will never know it is a restaurant unless you just KNOW. Tell your wife and husband and kids and friends because the food here is just WOW. The salsas got me SWEATIN and the food got me wanting more. But my shirt is soaked and I gotta get to work. I will DEFINITELY be back as it is close by and I have only JUST discovered it after two years living here!
